Ecological Conversion

The monastery is provided with 100% renewable sources and has all kinds of energy saving measures

Des Since mid-2008 we have participated in a process of ecological conversion which, besides beingconsistent with the spiritual values that motivate our monastic life, can be inspiring to others. The Declaration of the Congregation of the Order of the Crown of Aragon Cistercianmonasteries of the relationship with the natural environment, 2009, explains itsmotivation, which we share with other monasteries of the Congregation (Poblet, Solius and Santa Maria de Valldonzella).

We want the impact of our way of life on the environment and on people around the world have the least negative impact posssible. Therefore, we have made sure we are aware of the causesand effects of the global ecological crisis, and we have revised our consumption of goods andfood to make it more responsible from the ecological and social, have changed our electricityprovider (to 100% renewable resources) have taken steps in saving water and oil, we have reduced waste generation (buying products with minimal packaging) and increased recycling and separately collected waste, and we have recovered the orchard that had left for our own consumption and the Hostelry.
